Jewanjee draws inspiration from these diverse sources to develop her unique language, Zuban-e-Kusri (the language of a chair). Utilizing chair parts as symbols, she crafts a visual apparatus mimicking the intricate choreography of collective behaviours observed in humans, birds, and even microbes. The Elephant is a siren's call, luring the viewer into a labyrinth of perception. The original half of the image, a crystallised moment in time, holds the weight of memory, the artist's own lived experiences etched into its pixels. Yet, the Generative AI counterpart, with its surreal and often unexpected elements, casts a spell, challenging us to question the very nature of reality. The Darkness in Nostalgia
There is an underlying darkness in nostalgia. It draws us into a pain-laced reminiscence where we can feel safe in the static moments of our past. Lost memories of times in our lives when we felt at our happiest become these idyllic memories that we never want to leave. We feel so comforted by these moments that the pain of existing in the present can be too much to bear. The world as it is can be a harsh place, and these memories provide an escape, a level of solace in the fact that they don't change. (continues)
