The Aftermath, 2026 by Jacqueline Rose
36" x 48" Acrylic on canvas.
The painting depicts The aftermath of the lay of the forbidden.. a world where order has fractured into spectacle and ruin. The land burns not as a single inferno but as scattered fires of division, each blaze fed by fear, desire, and betrayal. Hidden and yet in plain sight fallen angels whose forms are no longer whole. Their bodies shift between beauty and distortion, into jagged silhouettes, faces splintered into masks of grief, hunger, and false pride. At the center of the chaos lies the aftermath of Eve’s union with Satan, where the boundaries between heaven and earth collapsed. The fallen angels take on varied shapes within the destruction, some towering and monstrous, others subtle and almost human, moving through crowds and shadows. They embody temptation, violence, false authority, and despair, each manifestation reflecting a different consequence of the original transgression. This is a vision of creation undone, where the cost of forbidden union is a world marked by chaos and longing for what was lost
